From Brussels to Suez - new batch of images released

4,700 historic aerial images covering areas ranging from Western Europe to North Africa have been released and are now accessible online. The imagery was copied as part of the NCAP digitisation project, which aims to make 150,000 aerial images available online by June 2013.

The imagery extends NCAP's online image galleries into Greece, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Spain and Tunisia. Several cities, including Athens, Brussels, Berlin, Budapest, Bucharest and Tunis are covered, along with two bombing decoy sites, in Romania and Poland.

Also now released is photography taken during two historic military operations in North Africa: the first features the ports of Toulonand Barcelona during Operation TORCH, the Allied landings in North Africa in November 1942, while the second covers several locations photographed during Operation MUSKETEER, the Anglo-French landings in Egypt during the Suez Crisis in November 1956.
