Whitebeam Battlefield Research Forum

This is the gallery of the Whitebeam Battlefield Research Forum. The Forum was established in the autumn of 2012 as a voluntary venture to assist with and bring forward new research into the D-Day Invasion and the subsequent Normandy Campaign during the summer of 1944. Membership of the Forum is free and open to all. We welcome and encourage active participation by new members with an interest in any aspect of the subject.

Members of the Forum contribute their individual research skills and time on a voluntary basis in order to help veterans, veterans’ families’ and students of the Invasion to research all aspects of the subject. We help with topics ranging from individual veteran accounts to major military formations at Army and Corps level. In many instances, we have been successful in tying descriptions of actions to reconnaissance cover flown over that particular area of Normandy. Our Gallery shows frames from sorties which were initially marked as un-locatable by NCAP staff but subsequently had their locations identified by Forum members.

The NCAP archive has proved an invaluable asset in the success achieved in this process and we are very grateful to the staff in Edinburgh for their constant willingness to help with this work. Their support is critical to our success.
